Barcelona III - Along the streets of La Rambla

You will find HardRock Cafe Barcelona

Photobucket

You will see a lot of street performers/statutes/sellers/whateveryoucanthinkof. Heck, they even say in Barcelona, its not illegal to walk around naked but I have yet to see anyone do that.

You will see a legion of pigeons. Like, seriously there are probably more pigeons that the citizens of Barcelona

La Rambla is the place you absolutely MUST GO. It is always so alive at every hour of the day (though at night its not very safe. There are lots of pimps & prostitutes around during then).
We went there everyday just to sight-see & eat!
Photobucket

We were pretty lucky to be there on a Wednesday coz TravelBar has free walking tours of La Rambla during then!
Photobucket
Our super ruggedly handsome tour guide u can omgfuckinrapehim. Yes I just said that out loud :P

But aside from looks he was a fantastic tour guide. (ok his looks did contribute to 80%of the word 'fantastic')
Photobucket

He brought us to one of the oldest squares in La Rambla which in the olden days was only meant for the filthy rich tourist and citizens of Barcelona.

They made it into a mini oasis and the trees here were actually shipped all the way from Egypt!

One of the most beautiful european streets I've ever walked along :D

Photobucket
Camwhore moment!

Photobucket

Barcelona is full of small streets in between tall the dusty tall buildings

Photobucket

Patron saint of Barcelona

It was said a miracle happened here where she was sealed into a barrel, stabbed by soldiers while she was sealed inside, and rolled down the street. Miraculously, she emerged from the barrell unharmed.

Recognise this scene?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Photobucket

Its from the Evanescene video clip "My Immortal".Click on the link for proof!

There is a small kindergarden nearby hence the kids playing around. Every shot captured looked like a scene from some movie. Gorgeousness.

That was the end of our guided tour. After that we headed off to the famous market of La Rambla.

It reminds me a whole lot of Bugis Street in Singapore except that they don't sell clothes.

The market is just a whole mesh of colours that will brighten up your day!

Every type of chocolate imaginable! Extremely expensive though

MONSTER LOBSTER CLAW!
eek I really have a phobia of crab claws and lobster claws when they are alive. I keep thinking what if they actually manage to snap off my finger. Nuts!

Photobucket

I have been such a hardworking blogger of late updating every few days :P

(P/s: I just tried putting cucumber slices on my eyes n ter-tidur with them for an hour but they say 15mins is enough. It really works! my eye bags became waaaaay less puffy!)

Barcelona II - Nights out in BAR-CE-LO-NA

Barcelona at night is equally gorgeous. Like all big cities, it never seems to sleep and there's a different sort of culture to experience at night.

We signed up for Flamenco Night - A night of spanish dancing & tapas! OLA!!!

Photobucket
How much the night costed us in euros

Photobucket
What was left of my euros after registration

But it was all good~ *one thumb up*
I only gave one thumb up bcoz they gave us sucky sucky tapas. Tapas are very famous spanish appetizers. The itenary said 'all you can eat' but they had limited portions and only TWO types of tapas! FUCK U MAN.

Photobucket
Fruit punch which I think had a hint of alcohol

Photobucket
We met SuJin backpacking alone on the trip! I salute ppl like 'em.

Photobucket
See what I mean?? Wtf , el cheapo french bread + salsa & pepperoni on top. wtf man, how can 6 starving tourist have this measley meal for dinnner???????

Photobucket
Hard as rock summore.

Photobucket

This was good though but its just fried potatoes with salad dressing

Photobucket
The view outside the restaurant was gooorgeeous though. I love the night colours

After dinner, they brought us over to a famous Flamenco bar, Tarantos, to watch Flamenco dancing!!

Photobucket

The flamenco dancing....wow...more than made up for the pathetic dinner. It makes you wish you were born spanish!!

You can't see it in the photos but the dancing spanish lady had weird lipstick make-up. She coloured her lips nude and lined the outer lip with black eyeliner @_@ . Must be some spanish tradition thingy.

On yet another night, we visited the the Barcelona Pier which people have been telling us its worth a visit.

Photobucket
See Barcelona's traffic lights for pedestrians are uber cute!

We had dinner first at one of our favourite hangout places in Barcelona called "TravelBar", one of the few places in Barcelona where the waiters can speak good english!

Everyone else was busy talking about politics so Suwen & I drifted off on our own...

Wah liew so gung ho dude.

There was this weird building we saw on the way to the pier...
Photobucket

Photobucket
This was the inside of the building. Oddly enough when we walked in further the place turned out to be a pub @_@

Photobucket
The pier is upahead

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

wtf la. To be honest when I saw it, I was thinking "Singapore's Clark Quay looks so much better! This is seriously overrated."

The only thing worth seeing was two men making out and snuggling up to each other while overlooking the pier...........

Oh! Before I continue on I must talk about the youth hostel we stayed at. Its a bit far the city centre, about 25minutes on the tube but the stay was sooo fun it was worth it!

Photobucket

Beds are bunk-bed style and its common showers but the concept is uber cool. There are board games;

Photobucket

Photobucket
Free breakfast every morning, a chance to mix with other tourist!

They sell cheap beer too at night, as well as a very useful chocolate/coffee machine.

On the 2nd last night of our stay in Barcelona, we decided to all get dolled up after having had enough of being covered in grime & sweat the whole day. Time to try some REAL SPANISH DISHES!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
We all tried Paellas!!!!

Photobucket

The rice is a gorgeous goey+sticky texture and I loved the saltiness of it!

(* I typed 'saltyness' just now but somehow it didn't feel right so I googled it. Mana tahu! Definition of saltyness is: penis, phallus, knob, willy, dick, cock. YOU just learnt a new word today)

Photobucket

My Squid Ink Paella. Black teeth after that but who cares.Fuckin delish!

We came back exhausted, but when everyone went to sleep Sha & I gatal tangan so we drew a small momento of Barcelona to leave behind in the youth hostel.
Photobucket

Believe it or not, we searched through the guestbook and realised we weren't the 1st malaysians to stay there!

Photobucket

I hope if I ever do go back there I'll get to see 'em on the wall :D
